A lot of the articles I read stressed alternating velocity on certain parts, but I don't know of any other way of adjusting note velocities other than very carefully trying to click the tiny velocity meter under the inserted note in piano roll. I think the biggest issue is quickly setting the velocities. I have to be doing something wrong on my end, I feel I am being really inefficient even with duplicating and copy+paste. The second issue is that drawing in notes and velocities is taking a lot of time.

That works pretty well, but it would be even better if I could do the same for a drum rack (still trying to figure out how to do that). I solved that by inserting a midi effects rack, creating a bunch of chains, and naming them in respect to what they triggered. Problem 1 was I couldn't see the note names on the piano roll, so I didn't know what parts to "click". While I've found great articles and resources on how to do that, I can't for the life of me figure out how to quickly get these drum sections out. I play guitar and have relied on the midi libraries too long, and I think trying to learn how to create a rhythm section myself would be really beneficial. I am using EZ Drummer 2 and I am trying to learn how to create my own drum beats. OK, I researched this as much as I could before coming here, and I probably did a bad job, but google wasn't turning up anything helpful.
